Summer's Bounty

It is hard to imagine that summer is 2/3 complete as of today.

My garden, small orchard and two hens are all producing more food than I can consume, and it is time to begin the process of harvest and preserving for the cold months, though they seem to be a ways off -- the feeling of autumn is in the evening air.

It never ceases to amaze me how the lengthening of the days until the summer equinox seems to take so long, while as soon as it passes, how quickly they seem so much shorter!!!

This summer is cooler than the last, and most of my tomatoes have not yet turned from green to red, but squash, beans, salad green, snow peas, onions and the lovely nastursiums to put into my salads are abundant and lush.

My parrot and I ate the peaches from the tree until we had our fill, and now there are three dried quarts which is about the equivalent ten quarts canned... The satsuma plum tree is laden with so many I am not going to even try to estimate how much there will be, and they are just now starting to soften and sweeten, so harvest and drying will begin within probably no more than a week. There is something about tree ripened fruit that is dried at its peak, sweeter than candy and so much more nutritious - drying does not destroy the enzymes or vitamins the way canning does and it is a much simpler process. Next come the apples, which can keep or be dried -- although last year I made several quarts of apple butter that is to die for, so that may happen again this year.

I can only be extremely grateful that Nature tends to be bountifully abundant, especially in the summer. My wish for you is to enjoy the fruits of summer and savor these last few days before the cycle returns to cooler days and the return of winter.

Recently I discovered that someone in Pasadena in Southern California has an urban garden that is producing massive amounts of food. So even in the heart of a large city the joy of being able to grow your own food is possible, and I highly recommend it -- as a hobby, for recreatiion or just for the opportunity to reconnect with the earth. You can actually watch the 10 minute video at this link: http://solari.com/blog/?p=3903 The video inspired me to take a few photos of my garden this morning, so if they come out (I still use an old fashioned camera with film....) I may post one or two here.

Be well, and prosper in the abundance of this beautiful planet that is our home.

Till next time,

Merlyn

Back From the Brink

Health & Wealth - These two issues are front and center in the news lately.
We think about our health, usually when we notice we are beginning to loose it.
We think about wealth as something that is illusive.

We have beliefs that have allowed us to accept that there is nothing we can do about this. Many have decided that the only solution is for the government to step in and take care of "it" for us. Because of this, we are giving up our free will, in exchange for being told what we can and should do or not do.

The government is discussing health care reform, yet the US has signed onto CODEX alimentarius under the UN, which limits the potency of supplements and the availability of natural health remedies, in deference to the pharmaceutical industry.

Billions of "stimulus" dollars are being spent to "bail out" those who made the financial blunders which caused the current economic crisis and the money seems to be going to those who already have it, with little or none "trickling down" to the average person, and we will all (including our children and grand children for generations) end up paying the price through increased taxation.

It is fascinating to me to realize that these things are occuring right now in this country, and even more so because so few people look at these issues and wonder what went wrong, how did we allow this to happen? The belief seems to be rather, that the government needs to take care of us, and therefore we have sold our birthright for enslavement and "security".

Yet beliefs are simply thoughts that are held to be true. Most beliefs were given to us by others before we were able to discern their validity. Yet beliefs can be changed. Your personal experience can provide new information and old beliefs once held to be true can be changed based upon new data.

If your life is not producing the results you would prefer, look at your limiting beliefs, do they serve you or are they blocking you.

Beliefs generate your thoughts -
Thoughts create your reality -
So to change your reality, change your thoughts and to change your thoughts it may be necessary to change your beliefs.

Be aware of your language, what are you speaking into existence...
If you say "I want to be wealthy", the result is that you will continue to "want to be" wealthy, you will never actually be wealthy. It is more supportive of your desires to intend what you want into being, as an example the statement, "I intend to create wealth".

So step back from the brink of the precipice, let the rest of the lemmings fall off of the cliff and take charge of your own reality by making the conscious effort to intend your life into being, from monitoring the beliefs you hold, which generate the thoughts you think, and experience the reality you would prefer.

Until next time,

Merlyn
